Christmas Traditions Recap

Hey lover! Ever since I was a little girl, Christmas has always been my favorite holiday. I love everything about the Christmas spirit and the celebration of a new year with God and love in our hearts. My family has traditions that I hope to carry on forever!

• Probably my favorite tradition is praying the Novena, which is a series of nine nights of prayer (in Spanish), beginning on December 16 and ending on Christmas Eve. This has always been so special to me because it is a few minutes of each day that my family dedicates to winding down and praying together. We also sing songs and play a few instruments, which only add to the Christmas cheer. Some nights we are joined by friends and extended family, making the Novena an even nicer time! This year we were able to Facetime with my grandmother, aunt and cousin who live in Colombia.
• Our Christmas celebration begins on Noche Buena (Christmas Eve) with a fun dinner party and dancing.
• On Noche Buena we always attend mass at 5:30pm and we have been going to the same church since I was a little girl!
• We typically buy our Christmas tree the weekend after Thanksgiving and my mom loves to have a different theme for each year. This year the decor theme was red, while others the tree has been shades of gold, baby blue, silver, all white and many more! I truly love how my mom is very detailed in all her home decor.
• A newer tradition is celebrating Christmas day-dinner with my best friend, Kelci and her family. They have a big group of family and friends join together for a DELICIOUS dinner. My favorite tradition of theirs is the Peppermint Pig, which deserves a post for itself to describe in detail just how special it is!

While we do listen to Christmas carols, exchange gifts and drink festive cocktails, these are the traditions that I cherish the most. I feel so blessed to have celebrated this year with my family and friends. Also, thank you so much for reading my blog!
