Hi lover! Lately I have been trying to eliminate excess items that I may be holding onto without any real purpose. I have a bad habit of going through my clothes and keeping things “in case I like it in the future” or “maybe this trend will come back” haha! My new approach is to get rid of anything that doesn’t fit well, is not flattering, or perhaps just needs a new closet to live in.
I like to do this deep cleaning not just with my clothes, but with everything else too. About twice a year I tackle papers and desk related items, often I purge beauty/skincare products, makeup, jewelery, shoes, you get the idea. Right now I am working on clothes and my goal is to really free up space in my closet. It is not practical for me to have a jam packed closet and plenty of those items go unused.
Last night I ended up have 3 big shopping bags full of clothes to get rid of. One pile is for friends to sort through if they like any of it, another is donations for a family friend who will take them to Cuba and anything left over will be donated to my church. Whenever I see how much I end up getting rid of, it teaches me that when I shop for new things I should have a clear mentality. I now ask myself, is this a versatile item? Will I still love it in a few years? Will the material hold up well? How will I style this in different ways? I don’t enjoy impulse shopping, so these few questions have helped me. What are some tips you have for doing some spring cleaning in your closet?

Spring cleaning is so refreshing!!! I usually go through and If I have not worn it in the last 6 months, it’s going bye bye. And I remind myself “less is more” 🙂 Xo

Honestly asking myself those same questions that you ask yourself has helped to prevent me from doing any impulse buying. I also try to tell myself that there is someone out there that needs whatever it is that I may be parting with more than I do.
