Hi lover! I’m so excited to share with you a recap of my baby shower for our little boy! The shower was on March 24, 2018, in the afternoon with my closest family and friends. My parents hosted the party but it was totally my mom who planned every little detail. She is the most amazing party planner and her creativity shines to another level in all her decorations and DIYs. I have so many pictures to share with you that I’m going to try to keep my writing to a minimum!
THEME
There are tons of different ideas on the internet which made choosing one a bit of a challenge. I used Pinterest as the main place of inspiration for my shower and ended up deciding to do a theme that was very true to me. I picked hearts & rain clouds :). These two probably don’t sound like something you would pair together but I love how it turned out. I love anything with hearts on it and it all ties to the “love” theme that I’m obsessed with. The rain clouds are because my other obsession is a good rainy day. Once we picked these, I chose the color scheme of turquoise, white and gold.
INVITATIONS
Here is where I chose to really save money. At first, I wanted to mail out the invites and then I thought most people would probably end up throwing them away, so it would just be easier to text them to everyone. Once I decided this, I started searching on Etsy for different ideas. I found the perfect design that had glittery hearts and rain clouds all over. The Etsy shop is called PartyInvitesAndMore.
LOCATION
In a dream world the party would have been in someone’s big back yard with massive white tents and fans, to protect against Miami sun and heat. But we didn’t know of anyone with this fantasy of a backyard lol. A common choice is doing it at a restaurant and we looked into these, but they turned out to be real pricey and I didn’t like all the restrictions of being inside a room at a restaurant. A family member of ours lives in a gated community and the club house happened to overlook the lake. When I walked into it and saw the view, my heart was set on it. I’m SO happy we picked this place and I wish I had a picture with a full view of the room the day of the party.
FOOD
From the very start, I knew I didn’t want a heavy meal. I’m more into snacks, appetizers and finger foods. I also wanted a big emphasis on delicious desserts. 😉
We went with the following foods, served buffet style: 3 varieties of mini sandwiches (turkey & cheese, Cuban/media noche, or ham & cantimpalo & cheese), pastelitos (guava or cheese), croquetas, a variety of meats and a cheese board. We had 2 different dips (spinach or bruschetta) with mini naan breads to dip. There were also a caprese salad and a fruit salad, which my mom made and it was so delicious. She’s great I tell you!
DESSERTS
If you know me, you know I’m a huge fan of sweets and can hardly resist them. This is why I wanted an awesome variety of desserts at the shower. My sisters’ good friend is an amazing baker and made the following treats: cupcakes, cake pops in the shape of baby rattles, rice crispy treats in the shape of hearts with a chocolate dipped edge, and chocolate dipped pretzels. They were all SO freaking good. They didn’t last long either! If you are interested in ordering from her, you can check her out on Instagram- @bake.craft.create We had a section of chocolates and candies next to small bags so people could take these home.
My very sweet friend offered to make the cake and she just asked me for pictures of what I liked. It was so beautiful that I didn’t want to eat it, but thankfully I did because it tasted delicious!!
DRINKS
For our boozy drinks we had white wine and a mimosa bar. The mimosa bar also worked as a juice station ;). For non-alcoholic drinks there were sodas or a special blue lemonade for our baby boy!
TABLES
As soon as you walked into the room, there were two posters made with lots of love by my mom.
I haven’t mentioned baby’s name yet on my blog or social media and now it’s hard to hide these pictures. Here is a sneak peak at his name. 🙂
This was the welcome table which was one of my favorites. My mom also made the diaper cake and it looked so, so cute! To the right we had a section with pens and envelopes so each guest could write their address on an envelope. This is a great tip so it’s very easy to send out thank you cards!
To the left side of the table we had the first game. My mom put mini baby rattles into a small plastic bottle and everyone had to guess how many rattles were in there. It was funny to see the different guesses!
All those small bamboo boxes are the favors. They had mints inside and a note written by me saying thank you! I also hand wrote all the signs you see throughout the party.
My mom gave me this idea to create a note written by our baby to all the guests. Since many of my loved ones only speak Spanish, I wanted to make it so they would understand it. To summarize it, he says: he apologizes for not being able to be at the party but thank you for the warm welcome. 🙂
Here is the gifts table. The banner of clouds with rain drops is another DIY by my mother and I absolutely LOVED it! I wish I had a spot to hang it in my home. Here is a picture of the other poster we had by the entrance. This one shows the progress of my baby growing and different pictures throughout the pregnancy. Oh and my momma also made that collage!
PHOTO BOOTH
I really wanted to create a pretty area for pictures. Renting an actual photo booth was out of our budget so again I turned to Pinterest for ideas. I ended up finding these boxes that resemble letter blocks, set up in a way that would be cute to take pictures standing between them. This is probably one of my favorite parts of the shower. My sisters’ boyfriend got us the boxes from his job and also the brown wrapping paper. My mom assembled each box and then wrapped and sealed them with a hot glue gun to make sure they would last. I created each letter and together her and I put on all the letters. It was so fun to make them with my mom and spend hours doing it. I still have these as decoration in my home because I could not just throw them away… I love them! The boxes all stay stacked on top of one another without needing to be secured.
I got to take pictures here with all my loved ones but if I shared them all… this post would be way too long lol! This last picture is of us with my mom and my father-in-law. They are so happy to be grandparents and it makes my heart happy!
MY OUTFIT
Dress: ALX Couture (local boutique) / Heels: Sam Edelman via Nordstrom Rack / Flower Crown: DIY by my momma (seriously loved it!) / Hair: Styled by @hairby_theblondestylist
GAMES
I chose to only do sitting down/written games because whenever I’ve been to a shower.. it’s so hard to get people to volunteer for games. I searched for ideas on Pinterest and Etsy and picked some of the common ones: Price is Right for baby items, How Well Do You Know Mom? and Name Alphabet Race. They were all so fun and I even noticed no one left during the games and it even got a bit competitive! I loved this part of the shower. There aren’t pictures of the games (I bought the templates on Etsy and printed them at home) but here is one of me reading out my answers. I also think it’s funny how I’m bumpin’ in the front and in the back! 😉
A FEW MORE PICTURES
Gosh I love each of you so much! Thank you for making me feel so loved not only during my shower, but all throughout my pregnancy. I adore you ladies! BTW, the last picture is with my dad and he is wearing the shirt I gave him when we told him the baby news. It says “Abuelito-to-bee”.
DEAR NANI (mom)
After my shower ended, I still couldn’t believe how beautiful everything turned out. I loved every detail of it and there aren’t enough ways I can thank my mom for everything. She poured her heart and soul into this party and it really showed that day. The week before the shower we hung out almost everyday trying to get everything ready for it. I’ll cherish these moments forever and I’m so in love with my mom. She’s the greatest person I know and hopefully that has shaped me into being an amazing mom to Baby G.

Such a beautiful shower and so much fun celebrating you and baby boy! There was an abundance of love in the room that day and having a mini reunion with so many girlfriends made it the perfect day! Can’t wait to meet baby G, the countdown is on 🙂
