Hi lover!!! So happy to be back in my blog space. Last week was a short work week and having a 4 day weekend was the best! I slept in, a lot, haha. I was able to relax and recharge my batteries for the last and best month of the year!

Today’s outfit is more experimental and I love how all these elements look, when paired together. My cousin came to visit recently and she was so sweet to gift me this adorable leopard print blouse. When the weather is chilly, layering a light military-style jacket can be effortless, since it pairs nicely with any color. Instead of wearing my typical brown or black boots with this outfit, I chose to change it up and add a bright pop of red booties.

Wedding Guest Makeup

Hi lover! A few weekends ago, I had the opportunity to do sweet Vivian’s makeup for a wedding she was attending. Her dress was a mix of warm tones with browns and golds and it had pops of turquoise. We decided to have a focus on her beautiful eyes, leaving the skin natural (since she already has great skin!) and a nice flushed neutral for the lips. Please excuse my poor skills in photographing the makeup, practice will help me improve slowly but surely, ha!

For the eyes: The eyeshadows used were from the Lorac Pro palettes 1 and 2, as well as some Makeup Geek shadows. For eyeliner I used the black shadow from Lorac Pro palette 1, to define the lash line on top. I applied a light coat of mascara and then placed 3 individual lashes on each eye, from the outer corner to the middle of the lid. For eyebrows I lightly filled in the sparse spots with Anastasia Beverly Hills dipbrow pomade in the shade dark brown.

For the face: I primed the skin by using moisturizer and Estee Lauder’s matte perfecting primer. The foundation I used was Maybelline Dream Wonder Fluid Touch. For concealer under her eyes and to highlight, I used MAC Pro Longwear concealer. The bronzer used was Benefit Hoola, to warm up the skin and the blush was MAC Melba.

Coven Inspired

Hi lover! This outfit is being shared a bit late, since this is what I wore on Halloween as my work “costume”. Last year I started watching the TV show American Horror Story and the theme for season 3 was witch craft. Thanks to the witches of The Coven, I quickly became obsessed with oversized, floppy hats and all black outfits.

This past weekend was a great one for me. Many things happened and I could dedicate a very lengthy post about it, but there is one main thing I would like to share. I experienced a real life miracle and it was something I hope to never forget. Life is a beautiful journey of growing and learning. Miracles can be seen by anyone, all we need to do is believe in them.

A few weeks ago, my boyfriend and I were invited to Kelci’s parents’ house, where her mom shared a beautiful prayer poem before dinner. To summarize the poem, it said how we often spend our lives wishing to meet specific people. The perfect spouse, greatest best friend, most understanding boss, or a loyal client. Yet, if we choose to focus all that energy on letting go, and having faith that God, the universe (or whatever you believe in) they will send you all the perfect people. There is something bigger to be learned; every single person that we encounter has a purpose.

Accordion Skirts

Hey lover! What I like most about neutral colors in an outfit is that they are suitable for any occasion, year round. Whenever I see a shirt that is blush toned, I instantly want it in my closet! Neutral palettes make me feel so girly, classic and flirty.

This accordion skirt is one I was unsure of until I tried it on. The fit can be tricky, but until you try different ones you won’t know how they look on your body type. I have seen maxi-style (long) accordion skirts and I am definitely on the hunt for the perfect one!

This weekend I have my sweet cousin from Qatar visiting and I’m so excited to see her. I also may have put up a baby Christmas tree in my room, because I could not wait any longer!!! I hope you have an amazing weekend and thank you for reading. 🙂

Love Food : Lentils

Hey lover! I have been lucky enough lately to have cooking lessons from my sweet mother. Last night I learned how to make her delicious Colombian-style lentils and today I will share her recipe.

Makes about 6 servings – Ingredients:

-1 pound of lentils (about half a standard sized bag)

-1 red potato

-1 carrot

-1/2 tablespoon of yellow coloring

-1 tablespoon of Adobo for seasoning

Directions:

1. Begin by rinsing the lentils, which I used the strainer to make this process easier.

2. Rinse the potato and carrot, then dice both.

3. Place in your pressure cooker the lentils, diced carrot, diced potato, and add water to cover 1 inch above ingredients. Add in your seasoning as well.

4. Cook on high until pressure cooker begins to sizzle. Once sizzling, turn down to medium and allow to cook for 15-18 minutes.

5. Afterwards, turn off the heat and allow to sit on hot stove and cook for an extra 10 minutes.

6. Carefully remove lid and check that your lentils are not too watery. Lentils can easily break or burn, so if they still require more cooking, do so on medium heat and try not to exceed 8-10 minutes.

We enjoyed our lentils with some brown rice and a fresh salad, but feel free to pair with your favorite side dishes. Hope you enjoy!
